Real estate investment, which is the backbone of the investment sector, is preferred by many large investors. With the new normals brought by the pandemic conditions to our world, many investors have questions about the fate of the real estate market. So is it the right time to invest in real estate?

It is known that people who want to own real estate in Turkey prefer our country for many reasons. While cultural and religious proximity is a reason for preference, especially for Middle Eastern countries, climate, transportation facilities, a happy life and being suitable for investment stand out worldwide. In addition to these, owning real estate is also a method to gain Turkish citizenship, so there are buyers who prefer our country.

Among the data obtained from the research of the Real Estate Overseas Promotion Association (GİGDER), where 61% of the investors who own real estate prefer Istanbul. Its location, cultural diversity and easy access are major factors in the formation of this statistic. In addition, many of those who want to own real estate in recent years prefer newly built houses. Many even buy real estate that has not yet been completed. This demonstrates the trust placed in the Turkish real estate sector.

The real estate sector is one of the rare sectors that the pandemic process cannot affect. The real estate investment sector, which has become a safe haven for many investors, continues to develop without slowing down. While no change in housing demand is observed, the owned houses are not disposed of. Again, according to the data obtained by (GİGDER), it is seen that 92.7% of foreign investors hold their houses and 7.3% are inclined to sell. This statistics proves the confidence in the Turkish real estate market.

In the survey conducted by GIGDER on foreign investors, it was concluded that many investors preferred our country in 2008 and after, and there was an accelerated rise especially after 2014. While 32.5% of these investors said that the real estate appreciated, 24.2% said that the value did not increase. Whatever the reason for the purchase, Turkey is the right choice in the real estate sector with the importance it gives to the investor and the opportunities it has.
